The name Camel comes from the Arabic word meaning Beauty.

Camel are appeared 40-50 million years ago (Eocene) in North America

A a male camel is called a bull, female camel is called a cow and a baby camel is called a calf.

There are 17 million camels worldwide.

Height of males Camel up to 6 to 7 feet.

Weight of male Camel up to 500 - 600 kg.

Weight of female Camel up to 400 to 500 kg.

Camels can drink up to 40 gallons of water.

A thirsty camel can drink 135 liters (30 gallons) in 13 minutes.

They require 10-20 kg (22-44 pounds) of fresh food daily.

Camels have three chambers in their stomach.

Camels can travel up to 161 km (100 miles) in the hot desert without water.

Their temperature ranges 41 degrees during the day and 34 degrees Celsius at night.

They can eat anything, including thorny twigs, without injuring their mouths.

Their coats reflect sunlight and insulate them from the desert heat.

Asian camels have two humps whereas Arabian camels only have one.

A camel pregnancy can last between 12 and 14 months,

The young at birth has 25-50 kg (60-120 pounds) and it is 1.2 m (4 ft) tall.

Camel are able to run within hours of birth.

The female has 4 tits, and produces 15 liters of milk daily.

They call to their mothers with a lamb-like “baa” sound.

Camels have big, flat footpads, which allow them to walk on the sand without sinking.

Domesticated camels were used through much of North Africa.

Camel meat is taboo for the Non-Muslim populations of the Middle East and North Africa.

They are only transportation method in deserts they carry people and heavy loads.

One of the worst habits of the camels is spitting.
